Hosta

These are a firm favourite for any outdoor space. They are ideal for patio or front step containers. Hostas will come up year after year. 

Ensure they are watered regularly but avoid them getting waterlogged as this will cause rot. Hosta are forest floor plants so require a shadier spot but will love an hour or so of sun. Hosta will naturally die back in late autumn and should be protected from heavy frost.  They will re emerge in spring and flower in the summer months.

 Our slug and snail friends love a Hosta! There is copper tape or woolen pellets you can put around the rim of your pot that will deter them.
